Did you know?

Many of today's household names started off by producing bicycles, these include Henry Ford, the Wright Brothers, Dunlop Tyres and the Morris Motor Company.

The World's first bike race was won in 1868 by Englishman James Moore, in Parc de St Cloud, Paris.

The most expensive bicycle on record was a Trek Madone, designed by Damien Hurst. It was auctioned at Sotherbys for $500,000.

Throughout 2012, Garry Lewis will be taking part in a series of cycling challenges to raise money for The Sick Children's Trust, including our special 30th anniversary House to House Sponsored Cycle.

Dates and locations of Garry's events:

17th June - Wiggle Flat Out in the Fens Sportive in Peterborough (154 miles)

21st July - Big G Grimpeurs des Wold Cyclosportive in Beverley, East Yorkshire (100 miles)

26th - 30th September - 30th Anniversary House to House Sponsored Cycle from London to Newcastle (300 miles)

Garry became aware of the work of the charity after his brother stayed at Treetop House while his nephew was receiving treatment for a brain tumour and felt inspired to give something back. Garry says, "Throughout my visits I saw how stressed and upset the immediate families were on the high dependency wards and when I visited Treetops. Your accommodation block must have helped take away the stress of the cost of finding accommodation to those broken, upset people and for them to be nearby their loved ones. They truly do have more than enough going on that stresses them out."

You can support Garry by visiting his JustGiving page. Because of his family's experiences of Treetop House, he has chosen for half of the money he raises to go towards the charity as a whole and half to go specifically towards the running costs of Treetop House.
