Once you have considered your family and friends, please consider leaving a life-changing gift in your will to The Sick Children’s Trust.
How to Make a Donation Through Your Will
Making a will is easy and relatively inexpensive. The best method is to use a solicitor, to ensure that the document drawn up is legal, preventing any future problems.
If you do not have a will, then it is very easy to include a donation to The Sick Children's Trust when drawing one up. If you do have an existing will, then amendments can easily be made to include a donation, through writing a 'Codicil'. Your solicitor can advise you on how to do this.
Types of Donation
There are two ways to support The Sick Children's Trust through your will:
• Leaving a specific amount or pecuniary gift
• Through a residuary bequest
Suggested wording for a pecuniary bequest
I give the sum of ...... pounds to The Sick Children’s Trust (Registered Charity No. 284416) of 3rd Floor, Willow House, 17-23 Willow Place, London. SW1P 1JH and the receipt of the Chief Executive or other proper officer for the time being of The Sick Children’s Trust shall be a complete discharge to my Executors.
Leaving a proportion of what is left of your Estate once all the pecuniary gifts have been distributed (a proportion of the residue).
Suggested wording for a residuary bequest
I give (%) of the residue of my real and personal estate which I can dispose of by Will in any manner I think proper to The Sick Children’s Trust (Registered Charity No. 284416) of 3rd Floor, Willow House, 17-23 Willow Place, London. SW1P 1JH and the receipt of the Chief Executive or other proper officer for the time being of The Sick Children’s Trust shall be a complete discharge to my Executors.
Leaving a proportion of the residue of your Estate is a way of safe-guarding the value of your gift, as gifts of specific amounts will decrease in value over time due to inflation.
