How You Can Help - Leaving a Legacy

Many supporters do not feel able to make a regular donation to The SCT during their lifetime. However, their generosity through their wills can make an enormous impact on the lives of very sick children and their families.

If you feel able to include The SCT in your will, you will be helping us to secure the future of a charity which already helps up to 3,900 families annually, and will hopefully be able to help many more in years to come.

How To Make A Donation Through Your Will

Your will is the only guarantee that your wishes will be carried out after your death. Making a will is easy and relatively inexpensive. The best method is to use a solicitor, to ensure that the document drawn up is legal, preventing any future problems.

If you do not have a will, then it is very easy to include a donation to The Sick Children's Trust when drawing one up. If you do have an existing will, then amendments can easily be made to include a donation, through writing a 'Codicil'. Your solicitor can advise you on how to do this.

Types Of Donation

There are two ways to support The Sick Children's Trust through your will:

Leaving a proportion of the residue of your Estate is a way of safe-guarding the value of your gift, as gifts of specific amounts will decrease in value over time due to inflation.

Since 2000 The Sick Children's Trust has benefited from over £320,000 in legacy donations. The majority of these donations were made in a manner that allowed The SCT to spend the money wherever it is most needed. Over the last few years these donations have made a significant difference to the work of The SCT and have helped us increase the number of families that we are able to help up to 3,900 every year.

We hope that you will feel able to support many seriously ill children and their families in the future through including The SCT in your will. If you do choose to make The SCT a beneficiary, please let us know, so that we can keep you up to date with all the developments in our 'Homes from Home'.

Thank you.
