Stars Behind Bars

Thursday 25 June 2009

A host of famous faces swapped the limelight for a cocktail shaker and took centre stage behind the bar at Embassy, London for The Sick Children’s Trust’s Stars Behind Bars charity event…and helped to raise £5k for the charity!

Celebrity mixologists including Ben Adams, Pooja Shah, Chico Slimani, Giles Vickers-Jones, Donal Macintyre, David Van Day, Vikki Thomas, Liz Cundy, Sue Moxley, Caroline Feraday and Ewen Macintosh and Raef Bjayou all took part in the event to help raise money for The Sick Children’s Trust – a charity which provides ‘Homes from Home’ at major hospitals around the country where families can

stay free of charge, for as long as they need whilst their child is undergoing treatment, ensuring the very basic of all medicines has a chance to work; family love and support

Donal says “I know how important it is to be near your child when they are in hospital, my daughter once spent a Christmas in hospital and I couldn’t bear to leave her; I stayed with her the whole time. The Sick Children’s Trust is a wonderful charity and I’m proud to be helping them in such a fun way.”

As the night got under way, the celebrities put their newly learned bar skills to good use vying for the punters attention as they battled it out in the Girls V Boys  bar challenges!

Crowds cheered as the mayhem got underway with the celebrities at the helm. Chico Slimani proved a dab hand at mixing a Mojito, David Van Day flaunted his fantastic flairing skills and Ben Adam’s created the most impressive Cosmopolitan of the night!

Giles Vickers-Jones was more than happy to get behind the bar for a night and says "Stars Behind Bars is such a brilliant fundraising idea - we all loved mixing the cocktails...and I've discovered that I make a mean Margarita!"

Funds were raised for The Sick Children’s Trust through ticket sales and fundraising activities including a balloon raffle and silent auction.

It truly was an evening full of laughs, some spillages and a night the celeb mixologists and guests will never forget!
