Thanks for becoming part of our family.

Thank you so much to husband and wife team

Marcus and Laura Leverton, who, along with their

dear friend and Emmerdale actor, Rik Makarem,

raised a whopping £7000 for us at their black tie

event on Friday 5th February at The Red Lion Pub

 and Bistro in Chesterfield.

The Levertons stayed at Treetop House in August

2009 when their son, Harry, was in intensive care

after contracting three viral infections that caused

 problems with his breathing.

A big thank you to the Hatchman family for their ongoing support.

They recently presented us with a cheque for £2500 at Stevenson House. Jon, who regularly uses the house, raised the money at his local school, Chatham Grammar School for boys.  The school held a ‘Chatham Grammar School’s Got Talent’ day based on the X Factor and Britain’s Got Talent and charged people to enter an act and also to watch.

Four University graduates took on the massive challenge of cycling across the USA to raise money for The Sick Children’s Trust last summer!

George Stancliffe, Freddie Athill, Alex Kinloch and Phil Lis cycled 4,000 miles from East Coast to West Coast, camping in tents along the way.

The boys felt compelled to raise money for The Sick Children's Trust after visiting one of our ‘Homes from Home’ and witnessing first hand the important work we do.

The cycle began at the end of June 2009 and finished just two months later. Visit their website www.theamericanexpress.co.uk for further information on the challenge and read their blog detailing the adventures they had along the way. Thank you for all your efforts!

Thanks so much to former Acorn House guest Natalie Snaddon for organising a series of charity nights called ‘Thank you for the Music’.

Natalie and her family stayed in Acorn House when her daughter Georgia was diagnosed with Leukemia 5 years ago and was receiving treatment at Addenbrookes hospital. Thankfully Georgia is now in remission and the family decided they wanted to give something back to the place that helped them through their tough time.

They chose to organise a musical themed fundraiser because of Natalie and Georgia’s shared love of musical theatre.

The event took place on the 17th, 18th and 19th September 2009 at the Norwich Puppet Theatre and they raised a fantastic £2,643.86. For more information visit www.puppettheatre.co.uk

A huge thank you to Fiona Lok who, with the help of her local church group, has managed to raise an amazing £515.00 for The Sick Children's Trust. The money was raised through a Pampered Chef party and a sponsored walk.

Fiona decided she wanted to do something to help after her son Samuel was born with a cleft lip and she and her husband were able to stay at Acorn House while he had surgery to correct this.

Our thanks go out to Fiona, and everyone who was involved in the fundraising, for this wonderful donation.

Thank you so much to Colin Hart for organising a Charity GolfDayon May 9th at Hunley Hall Golf Club, North Yorkshire to raise money for The Sick Children's Trust

Colin was moved to help after his granddaughter Molly was ill at the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle and her parents were able to stay at Crawford House. As a result Colin has requested that funds raised from the event go directly to Crawford House.

The day was a huge success and raised £1,147. On top of this Barclays Bank have very kindly agreed to match this amount, making the total an incredible £2,294!

A huge thank you goes out to Colin and to everyone who supported him on the day.

A huge thank you to Eddie and Veronica Yarwood from Cumbria, who have completed a 97 mile trek along St Oswald’s Way in Northumberland.

They began their walk on Monday 27th April and over the course of a week they walked the coastline of Northumberland from Holy Island in Lindisfarne to the beautiful countryside surrounding Hadrian’s Wall!

The Yarwoods received a lot of support from sponsors and have managed to raise a whopping £723.00 which will all go towards the running costs of Crawford House in Newcastle.    Well done Eddie and Veronica!

Helen & Philip Carter organised a Ladies Night at Philip's Masonic Lodge in Ascot. They raised a brilliant £1250 through a raffle and other activities at the event. The Sick Children's Trust is close to their hearts as they stayed at one of our houses when their son was receiving hospital treatment 11 years ago. A really big thank you to everyone involved for making the night a great success!

The SCT would like to say a really big thank you to Mary Clark for all her great fundraising and training efforts in the London to Paris cycle challenge.  She did a fantastic job and should be very proud of herself!

Mary says ' This was a wonderful experience for me as I have never done anything quite like it. The physical challenge was hard, but I was pleased with how I did. I found the last part of the ride very emotional, a few tears were shed at the Eiffel Tower. If anyone is thinking of doing this trip I would say yes, go for it - but train hard first!'

Our thanks go out to Siobhan, and everyone who was involved in the fundraising, for this wonderful donation.
