House Manager, Crawford House

Hours: 35 hours per week (some flexibility with start and finish times)

The Sick Children’s Trust is the charity that gives families with a seriously ill child in hospital a comfortable place to stay and a friendly ear to listen in one of our ten ‘Homes from Home’. We are looking for a House Manager who is hardworking and has excellent people skills to manage our ‘Homes from Home’ Crawford House supporting families at Royal Victoria Infirmary, Newcastle upon Tyne.

You will be responsible for managing the house including working with the hospital to admit and welcome families, property maintenance, daily administration and compliance such as health and safety, and will be hands on with light domestic duties to prepare rooms for families and ensure the house is maintained to a high standard. 

Your experience to date could come from a variety of sectors and roles such as office administration, facility management, housekeeping or health and care sectors to name a few. What we are looking for are candidates who can: 

  • Take the responsibility for running a house and the service it provides  
  • Manage a small team 
  • Carry out checks to ensure compliance to rules and regulations 
  • Demonstrate good IT skills 
  • Prepare and manage a budget and finance tasks to include income generation (training and support given) 
  • Empathise with families to support them during difficult times 
  • Demonstrate strong personal skills to work with colleagues and hospital staff professionally

Would you like to help families with seriously sick children in hospital stay together? Then join The Sick Children’s Trust as our Finance Assistant.

We have an exciting opportunity to join a super friendly, motivated and supportive Finance and Administration Team.  

The role is conveniently located near Liverpool Street and hybrid working is available working Monday to Wednesday in the office. 

You will be an effective team member working alongside the Finance Manager to ensure that income and expenditure are appropriately processed in accordance with The Sick Children’s Trust’s procedures, and that coding and costing are accurate and appropriate. You will work with the Finance Manager to support a range of financial procedures from banking to preparation of budgets and forecasts. 

You will be the first point of contact for finance queries. Therefore, strong numeracy skills, previous experience in a finance role and good communications skills are essential.

We’re looking for ambitious and strategic Development Manager – Corporate and Philanthropy to lead the growth of our corporate fundraising, build high-value partnerships, and work with our network of senior supporters to unlock transformational opportunities. With a strong foundation of mid-level corporate partners (typically £5k-£25k) and a skilled Senior Officer in place to manage and grow those relationships, you’ll be free to focus on securing new, higher-value partnerships and support.

Senior Trusts and Foundations Officer

We’re looking for a talented and ambitious Senior Trusts & Foundations Officer to join our passionate team. This is a fantastic opportunity to take ownerships of a strong portfolio of charitable trusts and foundations, developing long-term relationships and securing multi-year funding to sustain and grow our services.

The Role:

  • You’ll have the opportunity, skills and talent to write compelling, tailored funding proposals, deliver excellent stewardship, and work directly with funders to demonstrate the impact of our work
  • You’ll be managing and growing a portfolio of key trusts and foundations, delivering exceptional stewardship
  • You will be researching and working to secure new income opportunities focusing on five figure grants and writing powerful funding applications and reports to inspire and engage new funders
  • You’ll work closely with internal teams to develop cases for support and play a key role in achieving ambitious income targets to fund our ‘Homes from Home’

What we’re looking for:

  • A proven track record in personally securing significant trust and foundation funding at the level of five-figure gifts in a single year
  • Excellent written skills with the ability to create clear, compelling proposals
  • Strong relationship-building skills with experience of working with multiple stakeholders and decision-makers
  • Highly organised, proactive, and driven to achieve ambitious targets
  • Passionate about our cause to help families of seriously ill children
