After a transition period, Aileen will take over from Paul Jardine who is stepping down after nine years as Chairman of the board.  Paul has led the charity through turbulent times and it is very grateful for his commitment, dedication and inspirational leadership.

Aileen is The Sick Children’s Trust first female Chair, and is joining 18 months into our five-year strategy. She will help drive forward an ambitious fundraising plan and support the charity to continue working to a future where every family with a seriously ill child in hospital can stay together, close to their child’s hospital bedside.

Aileen said, “The fear and grief felt by parents who have a seriously ill child in hospital is profound. The Sick Children’s Trust lightens the burden in a unique way, by offering these parents and families a warm comfortable and supportive place to stay when they need it most. I am honoured to be appointed Chair of this fabulous charity which has already helped over 80,000 families since it was founded in 1982. I am excited to work with the whole team in pursuit of our mission to provide welcoming, comfortable ‘Homes from Home’ to keep families together when they have a sick child in hospital and kind, caring staff to support them.”

The Sick Children’s Trust CEO Jane Featherstone said, “We’re thrilled to welcome Aileen Ryan to The Sick Children’s Trust as Chair of Trustees. Her vision and leadership will be invaluable as we continue to drive our strategy forward. We look forward to working closely together to create lasting impact for families with a sick child in hospital.”
