The charity’s tastiest fundraiser returns this year and its bigger and better than ever. Throughout June, Big Chocolate Tea events will be taking place across the country, providing the perfect opportunity to get together with loved ones to raise money to support The Sick Children’s Trust. The charity provides ‘Home from home’ accommodation to families with seriously ill children in hospital, giving a comfortable place to stay close to their child’s bedside.

2022 is an extra special year for The Sick Children’s Trust, which is marking its 40th anniversary. Over the past four decades the charity has kept over 73,000 families together in its ten ‘Homes from Home’.

Theo and his wife Anna, who support The Sick Children’s Trust through their meal planning service FiveDinners.com, are encouraging everyone to take part in the celebrations or even considering hosting a Big Chocolate Tea party of their own. Among the fundraising resources is Theo’s special recipe for black bean brownies, which everyone can use to add even more sparkle to their own bake sale. Theo said:

“I’m thrilled to be a supporter of The Sick Children’s Trust and all the vital work they do to support families while their children are seriously ill in hospital. Big Chocolate Tea is a fantastic opportunity to have fun in the kitchen, making delicious treats to share with loved ones and all while raising money to support this fantastic charity.

“The fundraising pack has everything you need for your own Big Chocolate Tea, including my recipe for black bean brownies, which are easy to make and delicious to eat. We all love chocolate, cake and a nice cuppa, so sign up to take part in Big Chocolate Tea and join those coming together throughout June.”

As a charity The Sick Children’s Trust relies on the generosity of its supporters and people taking part in events, like Big Chocolate Tea, to keep its ‘Homes from Home’ supporting families. Head of Community Fundraising, Vanessa Simmons, said:

“Big Chocolate Tea is a fun, social and delicious way of raising much needed funds so that we can continue to keep families together with their seriously ill children in hospital. Anyone can take part whether its families at home, at school or with your work colleagues. We have everything you need to host your own Big Chocolate Tea on our website. All you need is great company, cakes and to set a date!

“We do not charge families to stay in any of our ‘Homes from Home’. However, it does cost The Sick Children’s Trust £40 to support a family for one night, providing a comfortable place to rest just minutes from their child’s bedside as well as a friendly ear to listen.”
