Friends of The Sick Children’s Trust have one very important thing in common: making sure that we can continue to keep families with a seriously ill child in hospital together through their regular donations.
Andy and Jacqui share with us why they have decided to give a monthly donation and help us to plan for our future.
We used to work in London before we retired to the Devon countryside. We have always loved a carol concert and would always go to one in the city during the Christmas period. Back in 2012 we noticed an advertisement for a carol concert in All Hallows-By-The-Tower, hosted by The Sick Children’s Trust.
After a bit of research on the charity, we decided to head along for a festive evening of fun while doing our bit to support a children’s charity.
The concert was fantastic. We enjoyed the choir, the celebrities, and the carols but the most touching thing was hearing a testimony from a family who had stayed at The Sick Children’s Trust. They spoke about how staying in a ‘Home from Home’ meant that they could focus on their sick child and it was clear how much impact the charity had on this family. It was after this we decided to give a monthly donation and become a Friend of The Sick Children’s Trust.
We attended every carol service from that year onwards, even travelling up from Devon after we moved. Every time we would hear another family’s story and feel proud to be supporting this charity, helping to give families with a seriously ill child in hospital a ‘Home from Home’ when they need it the most.
“The Sick Children’s Trust is so much more personal than other children’s charities. You really are making a difference to families during some of the most difficult times of their lives.”
The Sick Children’s Trust is so much more personal than other children’s charities. You really are making a difference to families during some of the most difficult times of their lives, bringing some comfort to them by supporting their stay in a ‘Home from Home’.
Not only that, but our regular donation helps The Sick Children’s Trust plan for their future so that they can keep families together. It’s a great thing to be part of.
